Copenhagen

I left home at 7.30 am yesterday morning, caught the metro to Naples central station, then the 8.24am train to Rome. Naturally it was running late. I just connected onto the airport train and after working out which terminal and check in counter I needed I waited in line. The Danes were all lined up waiting patiently and politely while the Italians were busy pushing in, trying to look subtle but failing miserably. The Danes, lacking the desire to make a fuss or confront anyone just watched with tolerance while I grumbled under my breath. The flight was smooth although I was seated next to a 60 year old daughter with her 80 year old mother and they bickered the entire flight. I had the window seat and enjoyed the views but was too afraid to set off more bickering so by the time I got to Copenhagen I was in desperate need of the loo. Of course when I found one the queue was out the door.
With no passport control I collected my bag and then spent a few minutes wandering around looking for my hosts only to find Birgitte and Penny chatting nearby enjoying a coffee.
We spent the day at Dryehaven Royal Deer park today, a picnic lunch including apple sandwiches packed by Birgitte's husband and a snooze in the sunshine while baby Henrik had a nap. This afternoon Penny and I have had a quick wander around some of the shops in the centre of town.
It's wonderful to be here, delightful to have time to spend with two of my loveliest AFS friends and tomorrow my equally fabulous English pal Tom arrives from London. He of course is tall, handsome, a gentleman and carries bags and stuff.
In the meantime Gigi is enjoying his farming expedition, planting an new orchard, trimming the vineyard and tending the chickens.
It's been 13 years since my last trip to Copenhagen, far too long between visits.
