February 1st was my final lesson with the Provincia group. 25 government employees were enrolled in September. I was dutifully told by Inlingua management that the group would drop down to about 13 regular attendees within three weeks. Five months after we started I would regularly have a class of 19-20 students twice a week. They were a pleasure to get to know and to teach. Rest assured though, certain students were not without their idiosyncracies and annoying habits (you know who you are, talking to me constantly in Italian, and interrupting the class to ask an irrelevant grammar question). So, while they were (hopefully) learning some English I was receiving a lesson in patience, perserverance, frustration management and how to deal with a large group of Neapolitan adults with varying attention spans and levels of interests.We celebrated the end of the course with a small party. Marina generously provided a home baked chocolate and pear cake even though she was absent. The sparkling wine flowed and I must say I will miss my Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with them.
